CAMBRIDGE - Anne Dashiell Wise, 77, known to most as "Jackie," passed away on Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.
She was born on Dec. 18, 1929, in Cambridge and was a daughter of the late James Bryan and Emily Margaret Skinner Dashiell.
Mrs. Wise was a 1946 graduate of Cambridge High School. In her early years, she worked for Tubman"s Jewelers. As a young woman, she was an avid swimmer and would swim across the Choptank River. She was the first Miss Choptank in the summer of 1947.
She was noted for organizing water ballets, dances and other entertainment programs for the Cambridge Yacht Club and the Cambridge Country Club.
After her marriages to the late Charles E. Edmondson and William Harrington, she married William L. Wise Jr. on July 10, 1982. He passed away on March 10, 2003.
Mrs. Wise was a social person and her hobbies included golfing, swimming, boating and singing. She volunteered with the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Cambridge Yacht Club and Cambridge Country Club.
She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Edmondson Jr. and his wife, Robyn (who was a special friend and caregiver), of Cambridge, and J. Bryan Edmondson of Stevensville; three grandchildren, Chad Edmondson, Carla Edmondson and James Bryan Edmondson Jr.; a sister Margaret "Marnie" Dashiell; cousins, Hanna (Pinky) Firth of Baltimore, Dr. Hunter "Dooner" Wilson of Baltimore, Ben Prag of Pomona, Calif., and Theodora Shelor of Demorest, Ga.; stepdaughter, Virginia W. "Ginger" Brannock and husband, Daniel of Cambridge; three stepsons: William L. Wise and wife Diane of Cambridge, William Harrington Jr. and wife JoAnn of Cambridge, and Douglas Harrington, originally of Cambridge.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Judge Charles E. Edmondson Sr., William Harrington and William L. Wise Jr.; and a stepson, John Harrington.
There will be a visitation at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be private.
Pallbearers will be Chad Edmondson, James Bryan Edmondson, William Wise III, Bill Harrington, Doug Harrington and Tom Hastings. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Foxwell and Corey Hubbert.
