Angelina P. Hyland

Hyland, 82 SMYRNA - Angelina P. "Angie" Hyland passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. She was born in Perth Amboy, N.J. on Aug. 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Angelina Jetko Humenay. She was employed from 1965 to 1990 when she retired as head baker for the Smyrna School District. Angie loved to be with her family and had many friends. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, and crocheting and knitting. Together with her husband, Angie especially loved to travel and camp in their motor home. Over the years, Frank and Angie traveled throughout the United States and Canada. After retirement, they often visited the American Southwest, one of Angie's favorite destinations. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Jetko. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Francis J. Hyland; a sister, Cecelia McMahon and her husband Andrew; and a niece, Denise Meehan and her husband William. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna. Friends may call Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
