Amiel L. Durham

Bridgeville - Amiel L. Durham died Saturday, June 28, 2014 in his son's home. Mr. Durham was born May 26, 1928 in Dover to the late Wilson L. and Lulu Ray Beckett Durham. Mr. Durham was a US Army veteran, who served during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he became a truck driver, which he did for about 50 years. He collected vintage tractors, and loved animals, especially horses. He loved his family, and treasured his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Durham was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Cheswold. In addition to his parents, Mr. Durham was preceded in death by his wife Bertha in 2008. Mr. Durham is survived by five sons, Amiel Durham, Jr. and his wife Linda of Seaford, Richard Durham and his wife Joanne of Seaford, Clarence Durham and his wife Donna of Houston, DE, Glendon Durham and his wife Joanne of Harrington and Thomas Durham and his wife Kathy of Seaford; two daughters, Donna Frazier of Bridgeville, and Doris Anthony and her husband Edward of Bridgeville; brother Glendon Durham of Somerset, KY; 40 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call from 11am to 1pm. Interment will be in Immanuel Union Church Cemetery in Cheswold. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com
