Alphonsus J. Bruey Jr., 86

CRISFIELD - Alphonsus J. Bruey Jr., 86, a resident of Crisfield, for the past 5 years, died at home on Saturday, April 21, 2007.

Born in Port Richmond, Pa., formerly of West Oak Lane, Pa., and Somers Point, N.J., he was the son of the late Alphonsus J. Bruey and Mary Cassady Bruey.

He was a graduate and violinist in the orchestra of North Catholic High School, class of 38. Retired from the DSPC in South Philadelphia, he worked and retired from Liberty Bell Raceway in Pa., and Atlantic City Raceway in N.J. He was a member of Local 137.

Survived by sister and husband Kathleen and Joseph Byrne of Mayfair Pa., and her children and grandchildren; his daughters, June Calico of Ventnor N.J., Susan and Kore Christensen of Crisfield, Mary Anne Kelly of Ocean City, N.J., Alice and Jim Ganly of Crisfield, Ethel and Gary Hermenau of Smithville, N.J.; his sons Alphonsus J. and Carol Bruey III of Ocean City, Daniel and Patricia Bruey of Hammonton, N.J.; grandchildren, William Bartle of Egg Harbor Twp., N.J., David Brennan of Fulks Run, Va., April Brennan of Crisfield, Dana Bartle of Jersey City, N.J., John Kelly of Ocean City, Jessica Bruey of Alaska, James and Mathew Frick of Mullica, N.J., Paige Darcusio of Brigantine, N.J., and Christopher and Savannah Bruey, Zachary Hermenau and Joshua Bruey, all of N.J.; great grandchildren, Alexis, Halley, Reilly, Ryan, Shane, Logan and Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Marie, and daughter Nancy Jean. His greatest accomplishment was his family.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Mannal Funeral Home, 6925 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. following with a Mass at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Mayfair, Pa., at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Roman Catholic Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pa.

Donations in his memory may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.

Local arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, Crisfield.
