Allen Staton Jester

MILFORD - Allen Staton Jester "Punkin", of Milford, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at PRMC in Salisbury. He was born Jan. 29, 1945 to the late George S. and Marian M. (Harrington) Jester. He attended Milford High School and was a Milford Buccaneers Mascot; after school, he worked as an usher at Shines Theatre. Mr. Jester worked for the State Highway Department and the Dupont Company. He then became self-employed and was owner and operator of Allen's Market and branched out into Allen's Snack Wagons. He then owned and operated Jesters Trash Service of which he retired from. Later in life, he drove Dart buses at the beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin B. Jester and wife Sharon A. Jester. He is survived by a son, Allen S. Jester, Jr.; a daughter, Janet M. Jester Carroll; a granddaughter, Loren M. Johnston; a grandson, Wyatt A. Carroll; a brother, George G. Jester, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
