Alice Mary McLaughlin

McLaughlin, 91 LEWES - Alice Mary McLaughlin, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes. Alice was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and spent most of her life there as well. She moved to Delaware in 1994. Alice worked from the age of 16 until her retirement at age 66. She worked, helping other people, all her life. One job was as a cafeteria worker. She had expressed that her greatest accomplishment was working hard and raising her four daughters, as she was widowed at the age of 56, by her husband, Edmund McLaughlin. Some of her favorite things were traveling to Hawaii, country music, the color orchid, Italian food, roller skating when she was younger, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. She is survived by her four daughters, Alice McCarthy, of Pottstown, Pa., Nancy and Peggy McLaughlin, both of Philadelphia, Pa. and Eileen Brady, of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Charlie McCarthy, Nancy Benson, Gary McLaughlin, Eric Levy, Eddie and Skyleen Brady; eight great-grandchildren, Amber and Joey McCarthy, Brittany and Brandon Benson, Silas Anthony, Trent and Chase Levy, and Gianna Petion. Services will be held privately. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
