
DOVER - Alice Elizabeth "Betty" Knotts passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at the Seasons Hospice Wing of Christiana Care Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Knotts was born October 11, 1924 in Clayton, Del., the daughter of the late George Edward Eichholz and Daisy Davy Scott Eichholz. She graduated from JBM High School in Smyrna in 1942. During World War II, she worked in Washington D.C. and for the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Del. She later worked as an Auditor for the State of DE/DMV, retiring after 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George Walter Knotts; brothers, Charles "Toddy" Scott, and Medford and Edward Eichholz; and a sister, Barbara Eley. She is survived by her son, George D. "Dave" Knotts and his wife, Alma Jean "Jeanne" Cox Knotts of Clayton; granddaughter, Jeanne Marie Harkleroad and her husband Wayne of Colbert, Wash.; grandson, George "Eddie" Knotts and his girlfriend Amy Saly of Elkton, Md.; and a great-grandson, Robert W. Harkleroad, III, of Colbert, Wash. A viewing will be held on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012 at 11 am. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting
