Alice Elizabeth Coleman Hoagland

CHESTERTOWN - Alice Elizabeth Coleman Hoagland died on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on Sept. 2, 1918 in Chestertown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Mertyl Uselton Coleman. Mrs. Hoagland was a graduate of Chestertown High School. She worked as a legal secretary and then worked as a Nurse's Aid for Chester River Hospital Center. Mrs. Hoagland was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Fort Washington, Pa., Trinity Lutheran Church and also volunteered at Magnolia Hall. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and growing flowers and plants. Mrs. Hoagland was very strong willed and stubborn in most cases. Mrs. Hoagland was predeceased by her husband, Frank Russell Hoagland. She is survived by two sons, John and Frank Ross; a daughter, Alva Ross; a sister, Ann; a brother, Billy, eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center 415 Morgnec Road Chestertown, MD 21620.
