MILFORD - Alan E. Carter died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at Delaware Hospice. He was born in Milton, Del. the son of the late Arthur and Edna V. Carroll Carter. He sold Life Insurance for years for Home Beneficial. His wife Sarah A. Carter preceded him in death. He was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church. He loved camping and traveling with his late wife Sarah. Alan enjoyed building and operating remote air planes and in later years enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his two daughters, Deborah A. Morgan (Richard) of Lincoln, Dawn A. Kolbe (John Jr.) of Frederica; two grandchildren, Kelly M. Whaley (Michael) and Kerry M. Kolbe and one great-grandson Mikel J. "Carter" Whaley and one sister in law, Nada Carter of Colombia, Md. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan., 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, Del., where friends may call for a viewing on Friday evening from 6 to 8. Interment will be private at Milford Community Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, De 19963; Avenue Methodist Church 20 N Church St. Milford, DE 19963, or Bay Health Center Milford In-Patient Rehab., C/O Bay Health 640 S. State Street, Dover, De 19901.
