Afri-Female partners with Delaware State University for mental health fair

DOVER — The Afri-Female Institute, in collaboration with Delaware State University and community and faith-based organizations, will hold a mental health fair at DSU’s Wesley College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, 2 N. Capital Ave., on April 23 from noon to 4 p.m.

The fair will feature screenings, youth activities and marching band and step team performances, as well as free food and vendor information.

The purpose is to connect and serve area residents and provide awareness about available services.

The Afri-Female Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been providing free care, counseling, tutoring and mentoring to children for over 20 years. Its stated mission is to build purpose and character and empower youth by providing guidance in achieving goals.

The organization’s mentoring program supports nearly 35 youth in the Kent County area by matching at-risk children in grades 7-12 with caring adult mentors.
