Adlene Dize Parks, 79 TANGIER, Va. - Mrs. Adlene Dize Parks, 79, beloved wife of Andrew Thomas Parks and lifelong resident of Tangier, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. Born on Oct. 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Elsworth Dize and Henrietta Laird Dize. Mrs. Parks was a homemaker, and a former cafeteria manager of the Tangier Combined School. She was a longtime dedicated and active member of the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church and the Tangier New Testament Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a strong supporter of missions. Adlene used her yeast roll making as an opportunity to spread the word of God throughout numerous communities. She called it her "Bread Ministry," enabling her to reach and help people throughout the world. Other than her husband, survivors include four children to whom she was a very loving mother, Bella Parks Burnett and husband Gerald H. of Ruckersville, Va., Denise Parks Dize and husband Norman F. of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Andrew T. Parks, Jr. and wife Mary Stuart of Tangier, and Lt. Col. (Ret.)Kenneth Parks of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Marjorie Crockett of White Stone, Va.; sister-in-law, Rita F. Dize; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Laird, Thomas Burnett, Susan Holtzman, Brad, Nicholas and Rachel Dize, Christopher, Michael, Georgianna, Megan, David, Stewart, Erin Parks and Chelsea Blanford; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, E. Frank Dize. Funeral services will be conducted at the New Testament Church on Tuesday, April 6, at 2 p.m. with Mr. Strickland Crockett officiating. Interment will follow in the New Testament Church Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to Gideons International at P.O. Box 518, Onley, VA 23418 or gideons.org, or the charity of one's choice. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
