WYOMING — The 43rd annual Great Wyoming Buffalo Stampede, what organizers like to call “the best little race in America” will be held this Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Wyoming Park in Wyoming.
Runners can choose from a 5k run/walk or a 10k run. Both the 5 and 10K courses are mostly on paved roads through orchards and scenic country roads.
The race will feature handcrafted wooden buffalo awards, which will go to 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place male and female runners in 5-year age groups starting at age 9 and under through age 80 and over. There will also be 5k walk awards for the top five male and female finishers.
Other features of the race include chip timing and technical shirts. There will be a free “kiddie race” before the Stampede.
A traditional post-race party and awards ceremony will be held at Brown’s Tavern, birthplace of the race. Music, beer, water, and Gatorade will be available, as well as food to purchase.
Register on-line here until July 7. The registration fee is $30 for the 5k and $35 for the 10k. Race-day registration is available.
