Zadith V. Cook

CAMBRIDGE - Zadith V. Cook of Cambridge formerly of Annapolis passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Bishops Head on July 23, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Ashland and Janie Parks Ruark.
Mrs. Cook graduated from Cambridge High School and continued on and graduated from business school in Salisbury. On Nov. 25, 1964, she married John L. Cook, who passed away on Aug. 26, 2017. She worked for the State of Maryland Income Tax Division, where she retired. Mrs. Cook enjoyed bowling, boating and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge 1211, Annapolis Moose Lodge 296, and Cambridge Elks Lodge 1272.
She is survived by a son-in-law, John W. Matthews III of Cambridge; four granddaughters, Beth Matthews of Salisbury, Amy Matthews of Cambridge, Julie Harp and husband Chris of East New Market and Tina Griffith Homick and husband Patrick of Virginia; a grandson, Matthew Griffith, Jr. of California; six great-grandchildren, Trey Davis, Hannah Harp, Megan Harp and Cian Harp, Brennan Griffith, and Patrick Homick II; a daughter-in-law, Liz Griffith of California; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Ruark of East New Market. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by two children, Glenn Griffith and G. Diane Matthews; a brother, Rufus Ruark; and a sister, Julia Utz.
A chapel service was held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Rev. Steve Bloodsworth officiated. Family received friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
