She attended Peachblossom Elementary and Upper Elementary schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946.

She learned to play the piano at an early age and took part in musical programs at her church and sang solos from the very first day of school until her graduation. She was a member of the high school Glee Club and sang at many weddings, funerals, and gatherings.

Working with the clients was a special joy as helping people was just what she loved to do.

Winnie serviced as an election judge at Sandy Hill Elementary School for twenty years. She served as an Auxiliary Member at Dorchester General Hospital, and was a member of Baywater Animal Rescue. She loved her beautiful Dorchester County and all animals and wildlife. She was known for her ready smile, compassion and Christmas spirit.
Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care Center held a special place in Winnie's heart, where she volunteered as a phone operator, entertainer and made yearly scrapbooks of their events and happenings.
Winnie loved being a mother and as a single parent saw to it that her sons had the opportunity of Boy Scouts, Little League, music lessons, and most definitely their church.
Winnie became involved in the Cambridge Church of God as a toddler, gave her heart to Jesus at age twelve and was a devout Christian. She was not ashamed to talk about her faith and trust in God, witnessing to others and writing of such in her periodical writings in the Dorchester Banner.
