CAMBRIDGE - Willis C. "Sonny" Windsor Sr., 77, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 at Dorchester General Hospital.

He was born in Wingate on Dec. 15, 1928 and was a son of the late Willis Chester and Mildred Tawes Windsor.

Mr. Windsor attended school in the South Dorchester area. On July 8, 1949 he married E. Louise Spear who passed away on April 18, 1989.

Mr. Windsor worked for the City of Cambridge until he retired in 2000. He enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing.

He is survived by three sons: Robert C. Windsor and his wife, Denise Dawn of Cambridge, William H. Windsor and his wife, Barbara Powell of Cambridge and Barry J. Windsor of Mardela; four grandchildren, Helen Foxwell of Cambridge, Margaret Windsor of Cambridge, James W. Windsor of Cambridge and Crystal Windsor of Cambridge; two great-grandchildren, Macy Louise Foxwell and Maddie Logan Foxwell, both of Cambridge; five brothers, William "Snook" Windsor of Wingate, O'Neil Windsor of Wingate, Franklin Windsor of Wingate, Robert Windsor of East New Market and Willis Buster Windsor of Pocomoke; a sister, Marian Powley of Hurlock; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Windsor was preceded in death by a son, Willis C. "Buddy" Windsor Jr. and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. David J. Wooten Jr. and the Rev. Joan Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

A visitation will held tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Nick Lyons, Ray Hastings, Steve Brohawn, Bill McCall, Mike Cheesman and Ricky Hubbard.
