William E. "Sonny" Hurley
SOUTHINGTON, Conn. - William E. "Sonny" Hurley, 60, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington.
He was born in Cambridge on June 24, 1946, and was a son of the late Eldridge and Myrtle Willey Hurley.
Sonny graduated from Cambridge High School in 1964. After graduating from High School he went to work at the Cambridge Wire Cloth Co.
On Dec. 13, 1970, he was married to the former Lauralee Owens. They moved to California in 1977, where he continued working for Cambridge Wire Cloth. He then went to work for Ancra Inc. and later worked for Connecticut Hypodermics and then Boardman Silver. Since 1985 they had made their home in Connecticut.
He enjoyed going to cruise nights and going to movies. He was stricken suddenly at his home.
He is survived by his wife, of Southington; two daughters, Jennifer Hurley of Richmond, Va., and Rebecca (Hurley) Latour and her husband, Jason Latour of Bristol; two granddaughters, Anna Latour and Caroline Latour; and a sister and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Cy Pritchett of Cambridge. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence Owens and Faye Owens and David Owens and Carol Owens of Cambridge; three aunts, Wilsie Spedden, Nettie Fleischman and Florence Anstine, all of Cambridge; and four nephews, Jeff Pritchett, Bruce Owens, Nicholas Owens and Daniel Owens.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge, with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Pallbearers will be Jeff Pritchett, Bruce Owens, Jason Latour, Lawrence Owens, Robert Sellers, Robin Hall, Terry Slacum and Paul Latour.
