William C. 'Bill' Saltz, 83

CRISFIELD - William C. "Bill" Saltz, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Hartley Hall Nursing Home, Pocomoke City. He was 83. Born in Crisfield, Jan. 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Samuel M. and Nola R. McCready Saltz. His wife, Helen Faye Saltz, preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 2007. A 1941 graduate of Crisfield High School, he was the owner of the former Saltz Furniture Store in Crisfield. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the VFW Post 8274 in Crisfield. He loved gardening, working on his tractor, and he enjoyed making crafts. He especially loved to make birdhouses and anything his wife and family asked him to. He is survived by two devoted daughters, Rhea E. Walston and Phyllis F. Saltz, both of Crisfield; three grandsons, Trevor Coons and wife Dawn of Durham, N.C., Jason Coons and wife Alison of Salisbury and Jay Walston of Crisfield; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Adriana, Annah, Brooke and Holden; a sister-in-law, Neva R. Howard and husband Arthur of Marion; a brother-in-law, Howard W. Ward and wife Ellen of Crisfield; and several cousins. Funeral services were Saturday, March 14, at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Pastor Jeff James officiated. Interment followed in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
