SALISBURY — For the fourth consecutive year, the Maryland Food Bank – Eastern Shore will host the annual Pack to Give Back holiday event on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at its Salisbury distribution facility.

Volunteers from lead sponsor Perdue Farms will join other corporate, student, and civic groups to pack 2,180 holiday boxes – the equivalent of more than 8,720 meals – containing traditional holiday fixings like cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Boxes will be paired with turkeys, partially subsidized by public donations from the Baltimore Orioles Food & Funds Drive, and distributed to soup kitchens, pantries, and shelters across the Shore in November and December, ensuring happy holidays for many who would otherwise go without.

This marks the fourth year that Perdue has sponsored this holiday event through a generous donation from its charitable giving arm, the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation.The cost of items within each box is also primarily covered by sponsors such as Perdue AgriBusiness, Chesapeake Shipbuilding, and Choptank Electric Cooperative.

Altogether, 20,000 boxes – more than 80,000 meals – will be packed this week between the Maryland Food Bank’s three facilities in Salisbury, Baltimore, and Hagerstown.
