CRISFIELD - Vivian S. Ward, 88, of Crisfield, died on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. Born in Crisfield June 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Artie T. Somers and Mildred C. Todd Stephens. Her husband, Gordon T. "Beaver" Ward died Dec. 9, 1996. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Circle. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Cavanaugh and husband Charles of Crisfield, and Kathy Rains and husband David of Laurel, Md.; grandchildren, Melissa Brewer and husband Raymond of Spring Grove, Va., and Ross Cavanaugh of Crisfield; and a niece, Gayle Peterson of Centreville, Md. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Somers; and a sister, Myrtle Matthews. Funeral services were 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home, Crisfield, where friends called one hour prior the service. Pastor Sally Russum officiated. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Donations in her memory may be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 39 W.
