Vivian S. Batson

FEDERALSBURG - Vivian S. Batson 73, died at Easton Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.

She was born on March 9, 1934 at Finchville in Dorchester County and was the daughter of the late Alphonso Hill and Geneva Cephas.

She attended Frederick Douglas Sinclair High School in Cambridge. She worked for the Caroline County Board of Education while working in the cafeteria at Federalsburg Elementary School for 32 years.

She was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church at Finchville where she was a former secretary of the United Methodist Women, a member of the health and welfare committee, a member of the Board of Trustees, vice-president of the choir, membership committee chairperson, a member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and was presently serving as secretary of the Finance Committee. She was also attended the Senior Center in Hurlock.

She is survived by; a daughter and son, Terri L. Batson and Gregory K. Batson, both of Federalsburg; two grandchildren, Minuiiah Neal of Owings Mills, and LaTasha Neal of Hurlock; a sister, Lorraine Bolden of Federalsburg; a brother, William Batson of Finchville; a sister-in-law, Gertina Batson of Finchville; Marilyn Neal of Hurlock, who she considered her daughter; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Catherine Lewis of Finchville.

A faithful companion, Medford Cromwell preceded her in death.

Funeral services for her will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2007. at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Rev. Peggy Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in Federal Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
