Violet G. Henry

SALISBURY - Violet G. Henry, 64, daughter of Viola G. Hunter of Newark and the late Robert M. Hunter, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She received her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1974. Shortly after her graduation, she began teaching at Seaford Middle school where she served as a mathematics teacher for 38 years. She retired from the Seaford School District and taught at Wor-Wic Community College as a Math Lab tutor and classroom instructor. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Larry L. Henry; her children, Lisa D. Armstrong of Salisbury and Byron L. Henry of Hebron; an adopted son, Levi Smith of Salisbury; three sisters, Roberta Purnell of Snow Hill, Sally Smith of Ellicott City, Md., and Sandra Thomas of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and one brother, Freddie Hunter of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Robert Bryant. A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at New Dimensions Ministries in Salisbury. Interment followed at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
