UMES choir to give free concert to salute veterans

PRINCESS ANNE — An uplifting concert by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Concert Choir salutes veterans and their service and sacrifice. The event takes place at the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the Performing Arts on the university’s campus Sunday, Nov. 9 — the day before Veteran’s Day — at 4 p.m.

“The intent is to reflect on the unselfish, honorable service that members of our Armed Forces provide every day for our country,” said Dr. Sheila Harleston, interim director of UMES’ choral activities. “It also honors those who gave the last full measure of devotion.”

The UMES Brass Ensemble joins in the evening’s festivities.  Arrangements by Bach, Brown, Hogan, Shaw, Stroope and Rutherford will be performed among others.

The concert also features pieces from the UMES Concert Choir’s trip to Guadeloupe this past spring. Admission is free. Call 410-651-6571 for more information.
