CAMBRIDGE - Thomas Maceo Harris Sr., 65, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital.

Born May 13, 1941, he was the son of the late John Enroy and Beatrice Harris.

While living on the famous South Pine, "Tommy," as he was affectionately called, attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Mace's Lane High School. Later in life he furthered his education at Chesapeake College graduating with an Associated of Arts degree.

Mr. Harris was employed for several years with Connelly Containers and the City of Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Division. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed relaxing, home improvement projects and spending time with friends at the barbershop.

He took interest in the Christ Rock Community and was an avid baseball fan (Orioles).

He was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church in Cambridge. He served in several leadership positions and chaired a variety of annual programs.

He is survived by his wife of 39 1/2 years, Mary; his children, Raymond, Sandra and Thomas Jr.; two granddaughters he raised, Danielle and Ashley; a brother and five sisters, John Jr. (Elenora), the Rev. Joan Chester, Susane (James), Arlette (Rufus) and Tina (Keith), all of Cambridge and Glenda Taylor (Richmond, Va.) and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a special friend who was like a brother, Alonzo Jones Jr.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. Alan Gould, officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services.

Arrangements are being handled by Henry Funeral Home, P.A.
