HEBRON - Thomas Joseph Coates, Sr., died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Born on Feb. 1, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Mabel Lambert Coates. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Abell Coates; four children, Jane Wade, Claire Campbell, Thomas J. Coates, Jr., and Kathleen Lewis; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Carter; one sister, Frances Reigle; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; three sisters; and three brothers. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at St.Frances de Sales Catholic Church; a private interment was held in the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
