Thomas Hunter Dukes

Dukes, 73 GERRARDSTOWN - Thomas Hunter Dukes, 73, of Gerrardstown, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Berkeley Springs Rehab and Nursing. Born June 26, 1940 in Cambridge, Md., he was the son of the late Thomas James Dukes and Dorothea Jackson Dukes. During his lifetime, he was an electrical engineer. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion. In his youth Mr. Dukes was an avid hunter and in his later years an amature photographer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Peterson Dukes; and a sister, Arlene Frances Dukes. Mr. Dukes is survived by four daughters, Lisa A. Casto and husband Anthony of Hagerstown, Md., Karen L. DeHaven and husband Todd of Glengary, Deborah J. LeMaster and husband Fred of Bunker Hill, and Diane L. Ferguson and husband Ivey of Huntington; six grandchildren, Sara Smith, Amy Kelly, Tasha Puffenburger, Andrew DeHaven, Amanda and Rick LeMaster; five great grandchildren, James, Matthew, Daniel, and Emily Smith and Blake Puffenburger. A memorial service was 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Brown Funeral Homes' South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor Don Cherry officiated with Military Honors. Interment will be private. Family received friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, at the chapel.
