CAMBRIDGE - Theresa Wynette Slacumpassed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
She was born July 28, 1955 in Dorchester County, daughter of Helen Slacum and the late Buster Powell.
Theresa was a graduate of North Dorchester High School, Class of 1973 and was employed for 25 years with Icelandic USA (formerly Coldwater Seafood Corp.).
Theresa became a Christian at an early age. She was a member of New Life Christian Church and Ministries.
She is survived by a daughter, Tereka Miller of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Tebrea Miller and Zaquan Miller, both of Cambridge; a brother, Milton Slacum of Hurlock; three sisters, Carolyn Slacum-Hill (John) of Hurlock, Edytheia Slacum and Rogena Slacum, both of Cambridge; two special nieces, La Tonya Kane (Eric) and RyKerea Slacum, all of Hurlock; a goddaughter, Shadanna Wilson; an uncle, John Slacum of Columbus, Ohio; three aunts, Mary Jenkins of Hurlock, Frances Fisher of Cambridge and Lillian Slacum of East New Market; a special cousin, Vivian Frock of East New Market and a number of nieces, nephews, cousin and many close friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Powell.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at Refuge Temple Church of God, 800 Robbins St. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery.
There will be a viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Faith Community United Methodist Church in East New Market.
Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.
