SALISBURY - Sylvia Timmons Jones died at her home on Tuesday, Apr. 4, 2017, surrounded by her children and family. Born in Willards, she was the daughter of the late James I. Timmons and Edna Laura Dennis Timmons. She was a 1956 graduate of Pittsville High School and also graduated in 1966 from the Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a dedicated and compassionate pediatric nurse for 37 years. She was also owner and operator, along with her late husband, of Ike and Sylvia's Flowers for nearly 30 years. During the winter months she enjoyed volunteering for the Blood Bank of Delmarva and the American Red Cross. She was member of the Town and Country Garden Club, the P.E.O. Sisterhood Philanthropy Educational Organization, Chapter V, Elks No. 817 Women's Auxiliary, Christ United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Ike" Collins Jones, Sr., in 2003; and her brother, Ronald J. Timmons. She is survived by three children, Debra K. Cooper, of Fruitland, E.C. Jones, Jr. and Cynthia A. Jones Walston, both of Salisbury; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Timmons, of Willards; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, Apr. 10, 2017, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Entombment was at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
