Stephen L. McCarter, 77 HEBRON - Stephen Louis McCarter died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at home in the care of his family and Coastal Hospice. Born in Annapolis, his parents were the late Louis Franklin and Grace Elizabeth McCarter. After graduating from Annapolis Senior High School, he served for four years in the U.S. Air Force. He served 21 years with the Maryland State Police as a Trooper and MedEvac pilot. He volunteered with the Westside Lions Club as a softball coach. He was a founding member of Gateway Church of Christ in Mardela Springs, where he was ordained as an Elder. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hedy Mae McCarter; a son, Jeffrey McCarter of Hebron; a daughter, Shana King of Glen Rock, Pa.; brothers, Terry Bolyard of Davidsonville, Md., and Timothy of Edgewater, Md.; six grandchildren, Grace McCarter, Lisa McCarter, Leia Cathell, Laura Cathell, James Cathell and Sylvia Cathell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jeanne McCarter; and two brothers, Louis Michael McCarter and Thomas McCarter. A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Gateway Church of Christ in Mardela Springs.
