Shirley Thomas Wyatt, 89

EASTON - Shirley Thomas Wyatt, of Easton, died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009. She was 89. Born on July 25, 1920, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late James Odie and Willie Dorsey Pritchett Thomas. She graduated in the class of 1937 from Cambridge High School. In March of 1943, Mrs. Wyatt married Henry Orville Wyatt of Easton. She worked for Tubman Jewelers, and in 1947, she assisted in the founding of Wyatt's Jewelers; operating it with her husband until they retired in January of 1979. Mrs. Wyatt was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Women's Club, the Ladies of the Elks, the A.A.R.P., the Talbot County Club, the Gold Room Dance Club, as well as the Crystal Dance Club. Mrs. Wyatt is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ellen Brogan and her husband Tom of Arnold. She is predeceased by her husband, Henry Orville Wyatt; as well as one sister, Marcielle Thomas. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, at the St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Sept. 16, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton. Burial will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601; or to the Talbot County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1143, Easton, MD 21601.
