SALISBURY - Shirley Louise Ducksworth Bowen died Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Mardela Springs, her parents were the late Helen Mae and Henry Leatherbury. She worked as a health care provider at Salisbury Nursing Home and later was self-employed at Eden House in Allen. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Roosevelt Bowen; three stepdaughters, Joann Bowen of Painter, Vanessa Bowen of Painter and Takohra Dillard of Baltimore; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Josephine Thompson of Allen, Dorothy L. Sterling of Allen and Lorraine B. Mays of Salisbury. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, William Leatherbury, Ann Carter, Ruth Smith, Ida Jenkins and Robert Lee Leatherbury; and a stepson, Roy Lee Bowen. A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey in Salisbury.
