Sadie V. Dixon, 87

CAMBRIDGE - Sadie V. Dixon, 87, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital.

She was born at Crapo on April 15, 1921 and was a daughter of the late George W. and Georgia V. Dixon Harper.

She attended schools in Crapo and graduated from Crapo High School in 1939. On Jan. 15, 1943 she married Henry L. Dixon. He passed away on Nov. 11, 1986.

Mrs. Dixon had worked for several shirt factories and later worked at Airpax and retired in 1986. Mrs. Dixon was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Dr. Hines Bible Class.

She is survived by a daughter, Norma Lee Lantz and husband, Donald of Cambridge; two granddaughters, Gail Horseman and husband, Robbie of East New Market and Debbie Shockley and husband, Gary of Salisbury; a great-grandson, Connor Shockley of Salisbury; a sister, Vivian Marshall of East New Market; two brothers, George Harper and wife, Ann of Cambridge and Tawes Harper and wife, Olive of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Adkins, Fannie Ruark, Marie Jones and Mae Brown and three brothers, Austin Harper, Woodrow Harper and Preston Harper.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Burial will be held at a later time at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
