PRINCESS ANNE — Construction continues but motorists are now following the new roundabout traffic pattern at the intersection of UMES Boulevard and Somerset Avenue in Princess Anne. This eliminates the stop signs for north and southbound drivers on Somerset Avenue which is Md. Rt. 675.
Temporary lane markings and directional signs are posted as work continues through the winter with completion in the spring of 2015. Concrete islands will be installed at all four entrances which will force drivers to slow down and guide them through the new traffic pattern. A concrete circular island in the middle of the roundabout is also planned.
Curb, gutter and sidewalk construction especially south of the intersection to Mt. Vernon Road is ongoing. The State Highway Administration, which is overseeing this project, reports water and sewer lines and stormdrains are 95 percent complete.
