Roger Earl Tyler, 81 ST. MICHAELS - Roger Earl Tyler died at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the age of 81. Born in Cambridge on July 31, 1928, he was the son of the late Edwin E. and Thelma Moore Tyler. After graduating from Dorchester County public schools, he worked as a carpet installer at Nathan's Furniture Store in Cambridge and Higgins & Spencer, Inc. in St. Michaels until his retirement after more than 35 years of service. Dad was a gentle man who loved the simple things of life; sailing, crabbing, fishing and spending time with friends. His greatest pleasure was having breakfast with the "bad boys at Carpenter Street." Roger is survived by his wife, the former Margaret "Peggy" Kemp whom he married Jan. 26, 1979; two daughters from his first marriage, Linda Bramble and her husband Lindy, Beverly Hurley and her husband Bruce, all of Cambridge; one grandson, Jason Bramble; two granddaughters, Ashley Hurley-Jones, Angela McGrath; and great-granddaughter, Cassie Bramble. Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Julie Hart and her husband Louis of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and one step-grandson, Brian Hart. A memorial service will be Sunday, Dec. 27, at the R. Carroll Hurley Funeral Home, PC, 312 S. Talbot Street, St. Michaels, where a visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a service. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in Roger's memory to the St. Michaels Fire Department, 1001 S. Talbot St., St. Michaels, MD 21663; or Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
