NANTICOKE - Robert Quincy Blevins, Jr., died Oct. 14, 2016, at at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury. Born to the late Robert Quincy Blevins, Sr. and Eileen Bell Blevins in Shelltown, he graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1951 and attended the University of Maryland, where he studied agriculture. He worked for the Department of Agriculture as an inspector for many years, and then retired to pursue a career as a waterman on the Nanticoke River. He went on to complete a degree in Social Work at Salisbury University and worked as a drug and alcohol counselor. He was actively involved in the Westside Lion's Club and the Nanticoke Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Hales Blevins; a daughter, Sharon White of Worton; a son, Robert Quincy Blevins, III, of Westover; a daughter, Beth Blevins-Smith, of Earleville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ronald Blevins, of West Point, Va., Daniel Blevins, of Holton, Maine, and Richard Blevins, of Stockton; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial was at Bivalve Methodist Church.
