Richard C. Truitt

MARDELA SPRINGS - Richard Clayton Truitt, Sr., died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at his home. Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Oliver and Annie Truitt. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. He worked at Crown, Cork & Seal in Fruitland as a forklift operator for 30 years until his retirement. Later, he worked another nine years at Auto Zone in Salisbury. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Truitt; children, Jason Truitt, Richard Truitt Jr., Michael Cline, Robert Stevenson and Lisa Powell; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; an uncle, Don Truitt; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Truitt. A graveside service with military honors was held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Mardela Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
