Quay "Jake" Leroy Greathouse
ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. - Quay "Jake" Leroy Greathouse, 50, passed away on Jan. 28, 2008 in Alexander City, at the Adams Nursing Home surrounded by family.
Jake was born Nov. 12, 1957 the son of Burlin "Slim" Greathouse and the late Esther Beard Greathouse.
He was a carpenter and a Buccaneers fan. On March 9, 1979 Jake married Sandra McCarty and a year later fathered his only child, Tonya Greathouse.
He was a former resident of Dorchester County.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Burlin "Slim" Greathouse and Florence Greathouse of Alabama; two brothers, Robert "Pete" Greathouse of Arizona and Harry Greathouse and his wife, Ann of Alabama; four sisters, Bertha "Bootsie" Neske and her husband, Jim of Alabama, Lois "Puddin" Greathouse of Arizona, Dorothy Greathouse of Tennessee, and Goldie Richardson and her husband, Duane of California; one daughter, Tonya Greathouse Colquhoun and her husband, John of Maryland; three grandchildren, Brandon Greathouse, John Colquhoun Jr. and Anna Colquhoun, as well as his ex-wife and long time friend, Sandra Greathouse Bechtel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Esther Beard Greathouse.
A memorial service will be held at the graveside at the Rock Springs Cemetery in Millerville, Ala. at 2 p.m. on Saturday with Pastor David officiating.
