SALISBURY - Priscilla Phillips Strudwick, "Pat", 90, of Salisbury, died on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Branche Holmes Phillips and Beatrice Priscilla Robertson Phillips. At Chestnut Street Elementary School, she was the valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Wicomico High School. During the early years of the war, she was employed by Precision Development Co. (Dresser Industries) as a Rosie the Riveter. Upon graduating from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in 1947, she was employed by Gordy Drug Co. in Salisbury. She helped initiate the Mothers March of Dimes in Salisbury, worked with the United Fund, Heart Drive, and Cancer Drive, helped with the incorporation of the Salisbury University Foundation as a member of the board, and the drives to establish a YMCA in Salisbury. She was an active volunteer in the Open Tennis Tournaments, served on the Board of the Parents Association at Wesley College, volunteered at Deer's Head Hospital and was active in Little People of America National Association and also Head Start. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Strudwick Wagstaff; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fred Nash Strudwick; an infant daughter; an infant son, David; and a son, John Phillips Strudwick; her parents; three brothers, Branche Holmes Phillips Jr., Byron Tennyson Phillips, and Emerson Carlyle Phillips. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dale Vroman will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
