SALISBURY — Melody Nelson of Princess Anne, Chairman of the Board of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, announced today that Doug Wilson, President and CEO, has announced his retirement effective at the close of 2014.

Dr. Wilson has served the Community Foundation, its donors, nonprofit partners and grant recipients over the past two years and has developed a ten year Strategic Plan for increasing the Foundation’s grant making goals to $10 million by 2024. He has reorganized the Foundation’s internal operations for greater efficiency and tighter management controls, as well as updated policy and procedures to comply with the changes in the governing laws.

The Board of Directors will be responsible for approving an Executive Transition Committee that will guide the process of identifying a new President.

Dr. Wilson has expressed his appreciation for the opportunity of serving his community while laying the groundwork and vision for continued growth at the Community Foundation. However, he is now looking forward to traveling and spending more quality time with his wife, Patty and their family.

Celebrating 30 years of philanthropy, the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) has been serving the needs of Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset Counties granting more than $50 million. Through the generosity and vision of our donors, CFES awarded grants totaling more than $4.8 million in fiscal year 2014.
