RHODESDALE - Phillip Oscar Dockins Sr., 83, known as "Mack," passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Coastal Hospice by the Lake in Salisbury.
He was born Oct. 15, 1923 in Rhodesdale, the son of the late Samuel and Lilly Farrare Dockins.
He was reared in Dorchester County where he received his public school education. He served in the United States Army and had worked in construction. He attended New Testament Church in Vienna and loved to garden.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nona Dennis Dockins; six children, Joyce Dennis, Ralph Dockins and Phillip Dockins Jr., all of Salisbury, Robert Dockins of California, Rose Fosque and Lilly Ballard, both of Salisbury; 12 grandchildren; a grandchild he raised as his own, Dawonda Flags of Salisbury, and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and two sisters-in-law, Lula Woolford of Christ Rock and Emily Jackson of Vienna.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Ida Jenkins, Mildred Dockins and Joseph Dockins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Clarence Jackson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans" Cemetery in Beulah. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
