CRISFIELD - Peggy Marie DeHaven (née Sterling), 84, died of cancer on June 11, 2016. Born in Crisfield, on Dec. 21, 1931, to Jacob and Eutha Sterling, Peggy married Stanley Jackson "Jackie" DeHaven in 1949. Peggy was known as Crisfield's "Avon lady" for over 40 years. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Brigitte DeHaven; son-in-law, John Britto; and granddaughter, Yona Britto, of Cross Junction, Va.; her grandson, Jonathan Nelson; and great-granddaughters, Issabella, Skylar, and Aaliyah Nelson, of Princess Anne, Md.; sister-in-law, Rebecca Sterling; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jackie; her sister, Jackie Abbott; and her brothers, Mitchell Sterling and George "Dexter" Sterling. A memorial celebration of Peggy's life will be held on July 16, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church on Byrdtown Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD, 21802, or to a charity of your choice.
