Peggy Jane King

MILLSBORO, Del. - Peggy Jane King, 71, of Millsboro and formerly of Crisfield, passed away at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011. Born in Crisfield on Jan. 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Geraldine Rantz Howard. She was a beloved figure in the community as the "donut lady" working as a cashier and manager for Mr. Donut. She held a record of having attended 59 consecutive Crisfield Crab Derbies which was a family affair. She was family oriented, had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. She enjoyed her church, and attended Crossroads Community Church. She never missed making a friend no matter where she went. She is survived by six children, Armore Rice and his wife Terri of Seaford, Del., David King of Millsboro, Del., Daniel King and his companion Pam of Bridgeville, Del., Jeff King and his companion Karen of Long Neck, Del., Tina Baevsky and her husband Bret of Newark, Del., and Valerie Defreitas of Oak Orchard, Del. She is also survived by her siblings, Marylouise Rubio, Donnie Howard, Frankie Howard and Phillip Howard, all of Crisfield; 14 grandchildren, Devon, Sarah, Matthew, Sandy, Tabitha, Katelyn, Kristen, Emily, Erica, Brittany, Jeffrey, Gailynn, Andrea and Courtney; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A time for visitation and viewing was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. A funeral service and celebration of her life was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home. Pastor Ray Hall officiated and interment followed at Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro.
