CRISFIELD - Paul Leon Mason Sr., 75, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, from Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on Jan. 26, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest "Stump" and Mary Jeanette Landon Mason.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchens in Crisfield, working for more than 25 years until his retirement in 1990 when they closed.

He was a member of the Crisfield Church of God and the National AARP. He enjoyed spending time in Gordon's and being Steve Walston's "gopher" for T&S Marine in Crisfield.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jessica Ann Welch Mason of Crisfield; three children, Paula McCready (Tommy) of Crisfield, Paul Leon Mason Jr. of Salisbury, and Timothy James Mason (Marlene) of Orange County, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Sherrie Ennis (Doug Lewis) of Marion Station; four grandchildren, Ryan McCready (Erin) of Princess Anne, Bailey James Mason of California, Charles James Lewis of Crisfield and McKensie Lewis of Marion Station; a brother-in-law, Marion H. Moody of Dayton, Ohio; a niece, Shirley Hampton of Dayton, Ohio; and two nephews, M.H. "Hal" Moody, Jr. of Dayton, Ohio and Robert Moody of Georgia.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Rae Walston Mason who died Nov. 20, 1962; and two sisters, Shirley Moody and Alice Mae Mason.

Funeral services were held Oct. 12 at the Crisfield Church of God. The Rev. Philip Morris officiated. Burial with military honors followed in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.

In lieu flowers, donations for Jessica Mason in memory of her husband are requested to be sent c/o BB&T Bank, 257 N. Somerset Avenue, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.

Arrangements were in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
