Olive T. 'Taters' Truitt, 85

HUDSON - Olive T. "Taters" Truitt, 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at her home.

She was born in Fishing Creek on Nov. 27, 1922 and was a daughter of the late William V. and Alice Creighton Travers.

Mrs. Truitt graduated from Hoopers Island High School. In July of 1942 she married Milton J. Truitt Sr. who passed away on April 2, 2003. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy T. Rippons and husband, Irvin of Ocean City; a son, Milton "Joe" Truitt and wife, Kathy of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Tammy Doring and husband, Dr. Kevin Doring, Jill Hartwell and husband, Sean, Dawn Gootee and husband, Bobby and Jenny Jones, and husband Scott; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel Doring, Caroline Doring, Ben Hartwell, Katherine Hartwell, Lauren Gootee, Luke Gootee and Elaina Jones; three sisters, Faye Williams and husband, Ronnie of Salisbury, Peggy Cannon and husband, Timmy of Cambridge, Bonnie Fitzhugh of Cambridge; two brothers, Calvin Travers and wife, Joan of Hoopers Island and Michael Travers and wife, Beverly of Cambridge; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Truitt was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Ruth Travers, Leroy Travers, William Travers Jr., Betty Hiser and Doris Parks.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with David W. Tolley officiating. Burial will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Kevin Doring, Scott Jones, Bobby Gootee, Chris Weber, Clay Weber and Sean Hartwell.
