Olive P. Elzey
CAMBRIDGE - Olive Peggy Elzey, 76, formerly of Fishing Creek and presently of Cambridge, for the past five years, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge.
Born on Oct. 20, 1930 on Hoopers Island, she was the daughter of the late William Henry McGlaughlin and Helen Creighton McGlaughlin.
In 1963 she married Albury "Toots" Elzey. He died on May 1, 2005.
For many years she worked as a crab-picker and caretaker for a gunning club on Wroten"s Island.
Mrs. Elzey enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Surviving are four children: Richard Dean and his wife, Shirley of Hurlock, Donna Noble and her husband, Hal of Salisbury, Cindy Bell and her husband, Leroy of Hoopers Island, Dwayne Elzey and his wife, Carolyn of Secretary; four grandchildren: Kasey Smith, Ricky Dean II, Ryan Dean, Sherry Bell Wilson; seven great-grandchildren: Amber and Autumn Dean, Coby Wilson, Gabriel, Sydney, Noah and Joshua Smith; a brother, Jack McGlaughlin of Fishing Creek and three sisters, Vivian Mitchell of Cambridge, Julie Poore of Delaware and Mary Simmons of Cambridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents and husband was a sister, Ella Pleger.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Joseph Kelly. Burial will follow at The Maryland Veterans" Cemetery, Hurlock.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Bell, Sarge Johnson, Hal Noble, Wally Abbott, Ryan Dean and Wayne Simmons.
