CAMBRIDGE - Norman Orville Chase passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.

He was born March 6, 1929, son of the late Isadore Murray and Agnes Chase.

He attended Dorchester County public schools and graduated from St. Clair High School in the class of 1946.

Mr. Chase was inducted in the United States Army in February 1951 and was honorably discharged February 1957.

Upon returning home, he was employed with Dorchester Lumber, Connelly Containers and Paris Foods Corp. from which he retired in 1995.

Mr. Chase joined Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church many years ago and served as a trustee. He was also a member of the Finance Committee, Willing Workers and of the Methodist Men. His civic organizations were The American Legion, Teamster Union, Odd Fellow and the Cedar Meadows Rod and Gun Club.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Carrie Chase and a grandson, Larry Butler Jr.

Mr. Chase is survived by his wife, Leah Chase; a son, William R. Chase of New York; a daughter, Gloria Jean Sudler of Baltimore; stepdaughter, Aretta Butler of Dover; stepsons, Norman, Tyrone and Albert.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Shannon, Tavonne, Chase, Angela, Lanelle, Lanisha and Lakei; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Atha Miller and Francine Banks; an uncle, George Murray; aunts, Lula Washington and Valarie Brockman; sister-in-law, Ida Pritchett; cousins, Loretta freeman and Francis Boardley.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. Jonathan Whitney, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Salem.

There will be a viewing on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bethel AME Church.

The Henry Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
