BISHOPS HEAD - Nina Jones Pritchett, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born on Oct. 8, 1919, in Bishops Head, Dorchester County she was the daughter of the late Edgar Jenkins Jones and Floyetta Bramble Jones. She lived her entire life in Bishops Head.

On Oct. 5, 1946, she married Clarence O. Pritchett.

Mrs. Pritchett and her husband owned and operated a "Mom and Pop" grocery store named Pritchett's Grocery in Bishops Head for over 60 years.

In her early years she was an active member of St. Thomas Methodist Church in Bishops Head. Mrs. Pritchett had worked at Phillips Packing Co. and local crab houses.

Mrs. Pritchett was an active member of Wingate United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary and Treasurer of United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Pritchett was one of the original members of the Lakes and Straits Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Mrs. Pritchett had also been assistant postmaster of Bishops Head for 44 years and was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary.

Mrs. Pritchett, her husband and daughter sang at many churches in Maryland and Delaware.

Surviving besides her husband of 60 years, Clarence O. Pritchett of Bishops Head, is a daughter, Deborah Pritchett Hayward and her companion, Mike Dawson; two grandchildren, Chuckie Hayward and his wife, Nicole Douglas, Pam Hayward; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Hayward and Alexis Hayward and stepmother-in-law, Dorothea Pritchett.

Preceding her in death was a son, Clarence Kevin Pritchett; three sisters, Kathleen Abbott, Mildred Mills, Pearl Cox and a brother, Carrol Jones.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David L. Kreek, pastor of St. Thomas United Methodist Charge.

Active pallbearers will be Eddie Howard, Jay Robinson, Dickie Dawson, Tim Robinson, Tommy Robinson and Melvin Pritchett.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dave Nickerson, Tommy Collins, Levin Elzey, Mike Dawson, Jay Newcomb and Osylee Lewis.

Expressions of sympathy may be made by sending flowers or making memorial offerings in Mrs. Pritchett's memory to Wingate United Methodist Church, c/o Osylee Lewis, 2116 Wingate-Bishops Head Road, Wingate, MD 21675, Lakes and Straits Volunteer Fire Department, Farm Creek Road, Wingate, MD 21675 or to Dorchester County Gideons, P.O.
