Nicey Tyvolia Young Turpin
MARION STATION -Nicey Tyvolia Young Turpin, one of four children born on Dec. 24, 1933, to the late Dorothy and Gordy Young, departed this life Jan. 16, 2007, at her home.
After the death of her mother, Nicey was raised by Elizabeth and Roland Young as one of their own. Nicey was educated in the Somerset County School System. Nicey was married to Melvin Turpin on Sept. 3, 1950.
To this union was born two children, Dale and Melvin. Her son, Melvin, preceded her in death.
She was a devoted member of Mount Peer Church and served on many church committees. She also worked as a seafood worker for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Melvin; one son, Dale (Sarah); two grandchildren, Derrell and Derrick Turpin; four great-grandchildren, Caiya, Dale, Christian and Kimeke; two sisters, Arlene Greene of Philadelphia and Aliceteen Taylor of New York; two brothers, Darrell Young of Baltimore, and Alvin Young of Detroit; one brother-in-law, George Turpin of Crisfield; one very devoted friend Annie Mae Scarborough; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Mount Peer United Methodist Church in Marion Station.
