UPDATED EVENT: Tuesday, Nov. 04 Gubernatorial elections held in New Jersey and Virginia - Gubernatorial elections held in New Jersey and Virginia. Both incumbents, Governors Phil Murphy (New Jersey) and Glenn Youngkin (Virginia), are term-limited and cannot seek reelection. In New Jersey, polls indicate a tight race between Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli. Ciattarelli notably came three points shy of incumbent Governor Phil Murphy four years ago and President Donald Trump made gains among Black and Hispanic voters in urban areas last year. In Virginia, current Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears faces Democrat Abigail Spanberger, with polls showing Spanberger ahead. The winner will become the first woman to serve in the role in the state * State legislature elections also held for the New Jersey General Assembly and Virginia House of Delegates today
