Nell S. Fisher

SALISBURY - Nell Scharf Fisher died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Atria Assisted Living Home. Born in Baltimore in 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Marion Scharf and Elizabeth Jones Scharf. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Peninsula Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1941 and was also previous owner of The Windfall Antique and Consignment Shop in Salisbury. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William H. Fisher Jr. in 1962; two brothers, Thomas and Harry Scharf; and a sister, Eleanor Sitzman. She is survived by five children, Sally Palao of Morristown, N.Y., Ellen Hoberman of Los Angeles, Susan Shearouse of Goffstown, N.H., Jane Vagt of Oakton, Va., William Fisher of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Wednesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Salisbury with the Rev. David Michaud officiating. Internment followed in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury. Arrangements were in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
