SALISBURY - Neil J. Helgeson died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at the Mallard Bay Nursing Home. Born in South Dakota, his parents were the late George and Emma Helgeson. A Korean War veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy and settled in Crisfield. He was employed by Crown Cork & Seal for 20 years and Parkwood Apartments for 30 years, until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Eva "Janie" Helgeson; his sons, Neil G. Helgeson, Jack Helgeson and Robert Helgeson; a daughter, Frances Evans; stepdaughters, Mary Lynn Carter Hastings from Delmar and Diane Morgan of Crisfield; a stepson, Bill Marsey; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Isabelle Helgeson, who passed in 2003; all of his siblings from South Dakota; his son Jay Helgeson; and two stepsons, Jerry and Jimmy Carter, both from Crisfield. There will be no service as per his wishes. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
